Mexican Army personnel were attacked in the area known as La Limita de Itaje, in the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa. Initial reports indicate that the troops were attacked with drones.
According to the reports, the attack occurred at 2:00 p.m. this Wednesday as the soldiers were en route to securing a building.
Local media report that the soldiers reported via radio that they were being attacked by organized crime groups from the air.
Members from all branches of the armed forces arrived at the scene to respond to the emergency, while an Armed Forces helicopter arrived in the area to provide security for ground personnel, who remained on alert.

Local authorities confirmed to Infobae Mexico that two soldiers were injured and a home was secured as a result of these incidents.
It should be noted that it is not yet confirmed that military personnel were attacked by drones, but local media reports and evidence suggest this is what happened.
In addition, photographs of the attack began circulating on social media, showing a soldier with a wounded foot being helped by his colleagues.
In addition to tire-puncturing equipment, the troops also found explosives used to launch drones.
News reports reported that authorities seized a sand-colored Hummer vehicle, very similar to one used by the armed forces.
These types of attacks against Mexican authorities are on the rise, according to a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
In 2024, according to the US intelligence community’s Annual Threat Assessment, nearly 1,600 explosive attacks against Mexican security forces were recorded, a dramatic increase compared to the three attacks reported between 2020 and 2021.
Cartels are increasingly using more lethal methods to maintain their territorial control and their illicit operations.

The attack in Culiacán on April 3 occurred on the same day that a video began circulating on social media showing military personnel and ministerial officials being attacked with explosives launched from drones.
This attack apparently occurred between the mountains of Chihuahua and Sinaloa. Infobae Mexico consulted authorities in both states, but they reported no reports on the matter.
